    Description

Who Killed Cock Robin? Good Housekeeping Illustration (Walt Disney, 1935). This Silly Symphony parody featuring many of the Golden Age of Hollywood stars was directed by David Hand and was highlighted on the Disney page in the June 1935 issue of Good Housekeeping. It's original preliminary artwork by studio artist Tom Wood (1887 - 1940). It is interesting to note that the Good Housekeeping page makes it appear that Cock Robin did indeed die. The final artwork can be seen on page 57 in David Gerstein's book Walt Disney's Mickey and the Gang-Classic Stories in Verse (Vintage Magazine Art 1934 - 1944). It is painted in gouache on 12" x 17" board. These are the exact images used in the Good Housekeeping page and in the exact order. It's a stunning piece of studio artwork showcasing a 6-panel story. Minor handling wear, edge wear, and a small dent in top right corner; otherwise, condition is Very Good.
