Who Framed Roger Rabbit Daffy Duck and Donald Duck Production Cels (Walt Disney/Amblin, 1988). This landmark film was directed by Robert Zemekis and released on 6/22/88. It received three Academy Award nominations and helped spur on the "Disney Animation Art Film Renaissance." "The Art of Who Framed Roger Rabbit" Auction was held in New York City on Wednesday, June 28, 1989 to staggering success. This auction was a main reason for the explosion of animation art collecting. This is lot 215 A and B from this sale, a pair of hand-painted production cels of the dueling piano scene of BOTH Donald and Daffy Duck. The only cels of Daffy Duck ever officially released from this film were in this auction. Mel Blanc provided the voice for Daffy Duck, in one of his last appearances as the character before he passed in 1989. Tony Anselmo provided Donald Duck's voice although a small archival tape of Clarence Nash was also used in the beginning of the scene. This pair of hand-painted production cels of two ICONS from two different studios is very rare. This is from the scene where they are entertaining patrons at the Ink and Paint Club with their piano duet. Both cels are in one common frame with a double aperture. Great piano playing images of 8". The cels are on color photo backgrounds. The colored photo backgrounds were only used for the auction pieces. Disney Roger Rabbit-released cels were sold with black and white backgrounds. The original COA is on the back of the frame with original Roger Rabbit Auction Emboss seal. Frame is 33" x 14.5" with two mat openings of 12" x 9". Frame is sold as is, artwork condition is Very Good. This lot is historically important and very rare.
