Walter Lantz (Signing as Walt Lantz) Gag Cartoon Drawing Original Art (Walter Lantz, 1926). This rare piece of original cartoon gag art is from an artist whose actual art is rarely seen -- animation pioneer Walter Lantz. Like that other famous Walter who went by "Walt," once Lantz began his own animation studio, he left the work of putting pen to paper to other craftsmen, while he supervised the entire operation. That doesn't mean Mr. Lantz couldn't draw, as this delightful ink with blue pencil shading artwork proves. The art measures 11.5" x 8", and it has been matted and framed to an overall size of 23.5" x 20.5". Signed in the lower right corner as "Walt Lantz", and dated in pencil "26". Floated in a mat with an opening of 13.5" x 10", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 23.5" x 20.5" x 2". Frame is sold as-is. Art is in Fine condition. From the Robert Forbes Collection.
