Walt Disney's Treasury: 21 Best-Loved Stories Peter and the Wolf Pages 94 and 95 Illustrations Original Art Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1953). Zdravstvuyte! (That's "hello" in Russian, in case you wondered.) Disney's version of Sergei Prokofief's classic fairy tale Peter and the Wolf was originally part of the 1946 compilation film Make Mine Music. The story was included in this volume of stories, on page 93. Here is the original artwork for all four color painted illustrations from the second and third pages. They show young Peter, armed with his pop-gun and on the hunt for the wolf, with Sasha the bird and Sonia the duck close behind. Image size is approximately 3.75" x 3.75". In the next illustration, Peter has caught the wolf by his tail, and he and Ivan the cat are pulling him up to the tree limb they are standing on; image size is 3.75" x 7.5". Illustrations from the next page include Peter, Ivan and Sasha with the wolf, now safely tied up and hanging from the tree limb, as adult hunters Misha, Yasha, and Vladimir arrive; image is about 8" x 4.5". The final image is of the wolf being brought back to town with all characters, including Peter's proud father; it measures 8" x 4.5". Color prints of the book's front cover and table of contents pages are included for reference. Art is in gouache/watercolor on lightweight board; all four have glue residue on back, with handling and edge wear. Images are in Very Good condition.Auction Info
