    Description

    Walt Disney's Treasure Chest "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Mickey Mouse Storybook Page Illustrations Group of 2 (Walt Disney/Simon & Schuster, 1948). This vintage storybook featured two stories based on famous Mickey Mouse cartoons. The most revered of the two contains what many fans feel is Mickey's greatest role: as the Sorcerer's Apprentice in the feature anthology film Fantasia. Here is the very rare original artwork for two illustrations from the story. In the first, while wearing the Sorcerer's pointed hat, Mickey is up to his chest in water as his magic-powered broom "helpers" keep bringing buckets of water, and Mickey can't figure out how to stop them. The image size is approximately 3.5" x 4". In the second, Mickey sheepishly returns the enchanted hat back to the Sorcerer; image size is 4" x 4.5". Both drawings are in ink and Conté crayon (with minor uses of whiteout on the second image) on paper affixed to a single backing board, measuring 15" x 11.25". Printouts of the storybook's cover (by Mary Blair) and contents page are also included. Art condition is Good with handling wear, paper toning, and minor glue and tape stains.
