Virgil Ross - Yosemite Sam Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Ya flea-bitten varmint!" Virgil Ross (1907-1996) was a longtime Warner Brothers animator who worked in the Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, and Friz Freleng units, and was best known for his action and dance sequences. He animated on three Looney Tunes shorts that received Academy Award nominations - Tweety Pie, Birds Anonymous, and the only one featuring Bugs Bunny that won an Academy Award, Knighty Knight Bugs. Recipient of the prestigious Windsor McCay Award in 1988, he began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels shortly afterward. They showcased famous Looney Tunes scenes and were sold at Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. To promote the line, he began making personal appearances where requests for original artwork resulted in drawings like this. It's an original drawing of Yosemite Sam signed by Mr. Ross that measures 11" x 7" on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper. Minor handling and condition is Very Good.
