Description

Virgil Ross - Yosemite Sam and Bugs Bunny Sequenced Pan Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs is about to give a shuffling Sam the "shaft" in this original hand-drawn pan sequenced illustration, inspired by the Friz Freleng-directed short, Bugs Bunny Rides Again. Artist Virgil Ross (1907-1996) was a long-time Warner Brothers animator who worked in the Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, and Friz Freleng Units. He was famous for his action and dance sequences, as well as his ability to draw wild facial expressions. He worked on three Looney Tunes shorts that received Academy Award nominations -- Tweety Pie, Birds Anonymous and Knighty Knight Bugs. Mr. Ross received the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of progressions of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Masters Collection" for the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. This image is similar to the Virgil Ross limited edition cel "Mine Shaft Shuffle." It's drawn on pan animation paper measuring 33" x 13.5", with image sizes ranging from 5" to 7". Condition is Fine.
