Virgil Ross - Sylvester and Tweety Sequenced Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s).
Sylvester tries to get Tweety to slide down a clothesline into his mouth, in this original 16 field sequenced drawing inspired by the Friz Freleng-directed short, Bad Ol' Putty Tat (1949). The art is by long-time WB animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996), known for his action and dance sequences, as well as his funny facial expressions. He worked primarily in Freleng's unit, and in part animated this cartoon. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries; this drawing has a similar image to his sold-out limited edition cel, "Hooked on Tweety." This signed piece has image sizes ranging from 3" to 10". Fine condition.
