Description

Virgil Ross - Porky Pig Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Sailor Porky gives a smiling salute in this original drawing by master animator Virgil Ross. Porky first donned the Navy whites in the 1938 short, Porky the Gob, but this drawing was actually inspired by a 1940s Dell Comics print, given away with subscriptions to the Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies comic book. Mr. Ross was a long-time WB animator, working for units headed by Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, and Freleng, and was well-known for his action and dance sequences. He also worked for Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, and other studios, and was awarded the prestigious Winsor McCay award in 1988. This is an original signed Virgil Ross drawing on 12 field animation paper, with an image size of 7.5". Fine condition.
