DescriptionVirgil Ross - Michigan J. Frog "Model Sheet" Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s).
The famous singing and dancing frog from One Froggy Evening (1955; Chuck Jones, director) gets the Virgil Ross treatment in this model sheet-style drawing, with no less than six images of Michigan J. -- and the last one is as everybody but his owner sees him! Virgil Ross (1907-1996) was a long-time Warner Brothers animator who worked in the Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, and Friz Freleng Units. He was famous for his action and dance sequences, as well as his facial expressions. He worked on three Looney Tunes shorts that received Academy Award nominations -- Tweety Pie, Birds Anonymous and Knighty Knight Bugs. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of progressions of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Masters Collection" for the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. He began making personal appearances where he created one-of-a-kind drawings of the Looney Tunes characters as well as other cartoons he worked on for other studios. He received the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. The signed art is on 16 field animation paper, with image sizes ranging from 2.5" to 6". Fine condition.
