Description

Virgil Ross - Marvin the Martian "Model Sheet" and K-9 "Model Sheet" Drawings Original Art Group of 2 (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s These two expressive drawings are based on the 1948 Bugs Bunny cartoon Haredevil Hare. This was the first appearance of Marvin the Martian (not named yet in this film) along with his slow-witted canine companion K-9. These two model sheet-style drawings, created by Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996), are based on these characters. Virgil Ross was a longtime WB animator, working on more than 230 cartoons with the Friz Freleng unit. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of progressions of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Masters Collection" for the Warner Brothers Studio Stores and animation galleries. He began making personal appearances where he created one-of-a-kind drawings of the Looney Tunes characters as well as cartoons he worked on for other studios. Both of these model-style sheets are 16 field 5-peghole, and both are signed on the lower aspect. There are five images of Marvin the Martian ranging in size from 5" to 7", along with two rough drawings of Marvin's hands. Images of K-9 measure 4.25" to 6.25". Fine condition.
