DescriptionVirgil Ross - K-9 "Model Sheet" Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s).
"Heh, catch this fugitive from the dog star!" says Bugs Bunny when first encountering Marvin the Martian's canine companion, aptly named K-9, in the 1948 Chuck Jones-directed short, Haredevil Hare. Here's K-9 in a 16 field animation model sheet-style drawing, with six images of the slow-witted hound from Mars. The art is by long-time WB animator Virgil Ross, known for his action and dance sequences, as well as creating funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. This signed piece includes five full-figure drawings and one facial expression; image sizes range from 4.5" to 6", and is in Fine condition.
