DescriptionVirgil Ross - Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Elmer becomes the blushing bride of "Figaro" Bugs, in this scene inspired by the 1950 Chuck Jones-directed Looney Tunes short, "Rabbit of Seville". This very funny cartoon is listed as #12 in the "50 Greatest Cartoons" as chosen by animation processionals, and is considered a lead-in to Jones' classic What's Opera Doc. Artist Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996) was a long-time animator for Warner Brothers, Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, and a few other studios, with a career that stretched back to the 1930s. He worked on everything from Oswald the Rabbit to Scooby-Doo, as well as fan-favorites like Star Trek: The Animated Series and The New Adventures of Batman. The drawing was originally rendered in graphite over blue pencil by Virgil Ross on 12 field animation 3-peghole paper with color added. The characters stand 7" and 8" respectively. The piece shows minor handling; otherwise condition is Fine.
