Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian and K-9 Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs cowers at the sight of Marvin's Acme Disintegrating Pistol in this superb drawing inspired by the 1948 Chuck Jones-directed cartoon, Haredevil Hare. The art is by long-time animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). A longtime animator in the Friz Freleng unit, several cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross was a recipient of the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several studios after his time at Warner Brothers, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. In the 1990's Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted limited edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection." To promote the collection, hand-drawn images like this were created for sale. This signed piece is drawn on 12 field animation paper, with image size of 10.5" x 8.5". The piece shows minor handling wear. Overall condition is Very Good.
