Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Umpire Sequenced Pan Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs slides in to home base in this classic bit from Baseball Bugs (1946), which has inspired this sequenced drawing by one of the original animators of the cartoon, Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). Mr. Ross was well known for his action and dance sequences, as well as his funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. He spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross began releasing hand-painted Limited Edition cels of his famous Looney Tunes scenes as part of the "Master's Collection" cels sold at Warner Bros. Studio Stores and animation galleries. This signed piece is similar to a long sold-out limited edition called "Yer Out." It's drawn on a pan animation sheet measuring 25" x 10.5" with images running (literally!) throughout. The image of the Umpire calling Bugs out measures about 7.5". Fine condition.
