    Description

Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Sheriff of Nottingham Drawing (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "Arise, Sir Loin of Beef!" The easily-fooled Sheriff of Nottingham is about to be "knighted" by Bugs (posing as the King), repeatedly, in one of the funniest moments from the 1949 Chuck Jones-directed cartoon, Rabbit Hood. This great drawing was inspired by that hysterical short. It was drawn on 12 field paper and signed by master animator Virgil Ross, who worked in animation for over 50 years, beginning in 1934; in addition to Warner Brothers, where he worked in units headed by Tex Avery, Robert Clampett, and Friz Freleng, he spent time at DePatie-Freleng, Hanna-Barbera, Filmation (working on Star Trek: The Animated Series and many others), and even assisted on several Disney films like The Little Mermaid. Bugs and his scepter have an image size of 8", and the combined image measures 11". Fine condition. "Arise, Earl of Cloves! (bonk) Essence of Myrrh! (bonk) Milk of Magnesia! (bonk) Quarter of Ten!"
