Virgil Ross - Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck Illustration (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). Bugs and Daffy hit the stage in their top hats, in this illustration by legendary animator Virgil Ross. It was inspired by the 1957 Friz Freleng-directed Looney Tunes short, Show Biz Bugs, which in turn inspired the famous opening to the Saturday Morning Bugs Bunny Show. Mr. Ross was one of the principal animators on Show Biz Bugs; it's one of nearly 200 shorts he worked on at Warners. Dance and action sequences were Virgil's specialty, as well as his wonderful expressions. Over the years, Mr. Ross won the two most coveted animator awards, The Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Golden Award, and the Winsor McCay Award. He drew this piece on a sheet of 12 field animation paper, with images nearly filling the signed page. Fine condition.
