Victor Haboush - World War ll Illustrations and Photo Group of 5 (Victor Haboush, 1940's). Victor Haboush (1924 - 2009) was a member of the Coast Guard in 1944 and took part in the D-Day landings at Normandy. Following the war, he attended Art Center College of Design on the G.I. Bill and after graduating joined his classmate and friend Eyvind Earle at Disney Studios to help finish layouts on Peter Pan. He worked at Disney though the mid-1950s, going on to John Sutherland Productions where he became one of the trailblazing young modernists in animation. These are a collection of four illustrations from his time in the Coast Guard and one official US. Coast Guard 8" x 10" photo of the type of ship he served on. Three of the illustrations are graphite and blue ink and one is graphite only. Three measure approximately 9" x 11" and one is 6.75" x 8.5". These are incredible early, wartime renderings by a future animation pioneer. All show handling and edge wear, and smudges; otherwise, condition is Very Good. From the Vic Haboush Archives.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
