Van Kaufman (attributed) "Butch" World War II Insignia Design Illustration (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Pluto was the second-most popular Disney character used for World War II insignias. His nemesis Butch was also called into duty, seen here with "a chip on his shoulder." This is the original artwork/painting for the 452nd Bombardment Squad/3rd Air Force, Tampa Florida. This group flew B17s in bombing missions over Germany for 2/44 through the end of the war. This great original is shown on page 80 in the book Disney Dons Dogtags - The Best of Military Insignia from World War II book. This gouache on board design has a great image size of 8". The "Walt Disney" studio signature is not by Walt, possibly added by Hank Porter. This piece was displayed at the 2005 Palm Springs Air Museum Insignia Show, as well as the 2006-07 Wright Patterson Exhibit, "Donald Pins on Wings." Artwork is matted with an opening of 8" x 10" and framed using Plexiglas for an overall size of 16" x 18". Frame is sold as-is. Artwork condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.

More Information: EDIT: Not by Hank Porter; beleived to be by Van Kaufman
