Description

Uncle Joey Production Cel with Key Master Background (Terrytoons, 1941). "Faster Uncle Joey! ...Faster!" say the little mice children in the Terrytoons short, Uncle Joey. In the short, a cat that's been chasing mice is easily outwitted by Joey, a mouse caricature of Joe E. Brown, who comes to visit a family of mice children in their home. Joe E. Brown was one of the most popular comedians in the 1930s and '40s, remembered for his amiable screen persona and enormous elastic-mouth smile. Offered in this lot is an extraordinary Key Master Setup from Uncle Joey. This is a very rare hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Joey pushing a roller skate. The cel is on its 12 field Key Master hand-painted production background. Terrytoons Key Master setups for this era are as rare as they come. This Key setup can be seen around the 1:01 mark into the cartoon. The original mat is in a new frame setup. The original mat is hand-signed by Paul Terry (1887 - 1971). His signature is also considered very rare, especially on a studio 1941 Key Master setup! The setup is in a frame of 19" x 16.5" with a mat opening of 11" x 8". Frame is sold as-is. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
