    Description

Touché Pussy Cat! Tom, Jerry, and Tuffy Production Cel and Master Painted Background (MGM, 1954). "Bonjour, monsieur Jerry!" Here's a truly exceptional hand-inked, hand-painted production cel setup of Tom and Jerry and little diaper-wearing Tuffy. Jerry is asked to make Tuffy a "Mouseketeer" in this short. It was directed by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, with animation by Ken Muse, Ed Barge, and Irv Spence. This is a full cell of Tom (seen at the 3:14 mark) with a trimmed-to-image and mounted cel of Jerry and Tuffy. The cel setup is on a Master hand-painted production background. You can see this background around the 6:00 mark, when the wine is flowing down the street. Backgrounds for this short were painted by Robert Gentle. Great images of 4" and 6". This rare Master Background setup is in a studio gift mat that is inscribed, "Best Wishes to Chris from Tom and Jerry." The mat also is inscribed, "An original from Metro Goldwyn Mayer Cartoon 'Touché Pussy Cat' starring Tom and Jerry." The mat opening measures 12" x 9", with an overall mat size of 16" x 14". This Academy Award-nominated short was released on 12/18/54, the second of four "Mouseketeer" cartoons. Fine condition.
