DescriptionToby Tortoise Returns Toby and Max Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1936). Both Toby Tortoise and his long-time rival Max Hare (a play on famous boxer Max Baer) appear in this pair of original 12 field 5-peghole animation drawings. Wilfred Jackson directed this Silly Symphony short, which was first shown in theaters on 8/22/36. Image sizes are 4" tall for Toby (not including the hat that has popped off his head), and 5" wide for a worn-down Max; both are in graphite with red pencil. There are great in-betweener notes written on the Max piece, which has the number 1 written in the lower right; Toby is noted as 24B. Minor handling and edge wear; Very Good condition.
