Titan A.E. Pre-Production/Concept Background Painting with Oversized 1 of 1 Cel (Don Bluth/Fox Animation, 2000). Titan A.E. was one of the most technologically-impressive animated films of its time integrating hand-drawn animation with CGI imagery, digital ink and paint, complex particle systems, and extensive effects layering. In general, most of the animation in the film was created with digital ink and paint, so finding production art from this visually-stunning film can be challenging. This piece, however, perfectly captures the spirit of the film with a mix of production art and one-of-a-kind custom artwork. This is a simply gorgeous original pre-production/concept background painting from the film, depicting an intense scene on the surface of the planet Sesharrim. This eye-catching painting measures a whopping 36" x 23" on 40" x 25" illustration board. It perfectly captures the warm, glowing hues of Sesharrim, with rocky structures in the background and luminescent Hydrogen trees in the foreground. The background is paired with a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted, hand-inked cel, created at Fox Animation Studios specifically for this piece. The cel features beautiful images of Cale, Korso, Akima, and Stith being carried through the air by Gaoul during their tense escape from a Drej attack, a sequence in the film that takes place around the 32:05 mark. The cel measures 38" x 24.75", and it features huge images of all four characters with smooth, highly-detailed inking. The piece bears a Fox Animation seal in its lower right corner, and it is numbered 1/1 (the only one made!). The piece is matted, with a matboard aperture of 35.5" x 22.5" and an overall mat size of 43.5" x 30.5". This breathtaking piece is in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear, including some minor debris on the background painting and minor scratching on the cel.Auction Info
