    Description

Tim Burton The Black Cauldron Character Design Concept Drawing (Walt Disney, 1985). Tim Burton studied character animation at CalArts before a brief apprenticeship at Walt Disney Animation. This is a rare piece of concept/character development artwork created by Mr. Burton for The Black Cauldron. The art is in ink and watercolor on paper measuring approximately 9.5" x 9", with an image size of the character measuring 5.5". Unsigned. It's a great look at the early genius of the man behind classic films like Beetlejuice (1988), Batman (1989), Edward Scissorhands (1990); and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). There are pinholes in all four corners with minor handling wear. Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
