Tijuana Toads Production Cel (DePatie-Freleng 1969).
The Tijuana Toads, appeared in 17 theatrical shorts throughout the late sixties and seventies. The series was about two toads, Toro and Pancho, who live in Tijuana, Mexico. In the cartoon they would try to eat their prey, but were always outsmarted. Toro was voiced by actor Don Diamond and Pancho voiced by Tom Holland. From the series we have a fantastic hand-painted production cel on 12 field acetate. The piece is signed by animation legend, Friz Freleng (1906-1995). Often credited as I. Freleng, the nickname Friz came from his friend, Hugh Harman, who initially nicknamed him Congressman Frizby. Over time, this was shortened to Friz. The piece is in a frame of 19.5" x 17" with an opening measuring 11.75" x 9.5" under Plexiglas. The frame is sold as-is. Condition of the Artwork is Very Good.
