Thumbelina Jacquimo and Thumbelina Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (Don Bluth, 1994). "Can you swim!?" asks a panicked Jacquimo. "I can't swim! I can't even float!" replies Thumbelina as she approaches a treacherous waterfall. Seen at the 32:20 mark of the 1994 Don Bluth film Thumbelina, this stunning complete setup of a whopping five hand-painted original production cels on a key master background is an unbelievably rare piece. If that wasn't enough, the background also bears the initials of legendary animation director Don Bluth himself! The core team of background artists on this film were Carl Jones, Paul M. Kelly, Robyn Christian Nason, Phaedra Craig Finnegan and Kenneth Slevin, and this wonderful background rendered in gouache on illustration board was created by additional background artist Rachel Kerr. An incredible find, this large 16 field piece shows minor handling and edge wear with come corners of cels showing small folds. There is a blank protective cel between the background and the cel setup, and the condition overall is Very Good.
