Thru the Mirror Mickey Mouse Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1936). David Hand directed this Mickey Mouse short that was released on 5/30/36. The title in the short says THRU, but the theatrical poster says THROUGH. The story was written by William Cottrell and Joe Grant. In it, Mickey falls asleep on his bed reading the book Alice Through the Looking Glass and has a dream of going through the mirror himself. This is a rare detailed concept art/story gag painting in gouache and graphite of Mickey meeting the chair and dog-type footstool as he first crosses thru the mirror. This type of gag is seen at about 1:05 into the short. This rare concept painting may have been done all the way back in 1934, as it shows Mickey with a pie slice in his eyes. Nice size characters of 3" - 6". Matted and framed with glass for an overall size of 19" x 16.5". The artboard is tanned, but otherwise is in Fine condition.
