    Description

Thru the Mirror Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1936). Mickey Mouse has a surreal dream inspired by his bedtime reading of Through the Looking Glass in this David Hand-directed theatrical short Thru the Mirror. Released on 5/30/1936, this Lewis Carroll-inspired story precedes Disney's feature film Alice in Wonderland by 15 years! This sequence of original animation drawings can be seen at the 7:32 mark of the short, near the end, in which Mickey gets chased by an army of playing cards throwing their diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades at him. The similarities to the final sequences of Alice in Wonderland can't be understated. This beautiful and expressive set is rendered in graphite and red pencil on animation paper, and the initials J.B. are written in the lower right corner of the first sheet. The number 33 is written in the lower right corner of the second sheet. The pieces show minor handling wear, and they are framed under glass with a mat window size of 11.25" x 8.5" and an overall frame size of 15" x 12". The frames are taped together to make an overall size of approximately 30" x 12". The drawings show minor handling wear and are in Very Good condition. The frames are sold as is.
