    Description

The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show Tom Production Cel and Master Background Setup (Filmation, 1980). Over the years, many studios took over television production for the famous cat and mouse series, however, in each subsequent incarnation, the spirit of the M-G-M theatrical shorts was watered down more and more. At last, in the 1970s, no violence, whatsoever, was permitted - and the old enemies actually became friends! That is, until Filmation took their turn... The (proudly "Made In Hollywood") cartoon studio restored the original antagonistic spirit of the twosome - and the chases and the trickery resumed! In this great hand-painted production cel, Tom has just made a narrow escape...from someone. Measuring 4" high, he ducks behind a barrel to catch his breath. Look at that worn-out expression! Also included is an original hand-painted Master background from the show - it is unknown whether it is a Key Master background. It has been painted in tempera on smooth watercolor paper - and a cel! The street backdrop is on paper per usual, and the "foreground" background (consisting of a bunch of nautical-themed refuse) has been painted on a cel, so that, when placed under a camera, with the character cel sandwiched between them, the animated character can emerge from behind the scenery! In Fine condition.
