The Three Musketeers Mickey Mouse Costume Concept Painting by Toby Bluth (Walt Disney, 2004). Mickey, Donald, and Goofy star as the swashbuckling Three Musketeers in this animated adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's classic tale. The direct to video musical action-comedy was originally conceived in the 1980's but went undeveloped until the early 2000's to coincide with Mickey's 75th anniversary. Presented here is an original costume concept painting by artist Toby Bluth (1940 – 2013). Mr. Bluth is best known for his production design and background artwork at Disney studios as well as being the brother of animator Don Bluth. The full-figure image of Mickey measuring 5" x 7" is rendered in graphite and colored pencil and is signed by the artist in the lower right. This one-of-a-kind concept art shows Mickey in a costume that was ultimately changed to feature an tabard emblazoned with the fleur-de-lis, making it particularly unique. The art is in a 19" x 21" frame under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 9" x 11". Condition is Fine and the frame is sold as-is.
