DescriptionThe Sword in the Stone Merlin and Wart as Fish Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1963). For Wart's first lesson in magic, Merlin turn him into a fish and then joins him to show that brains can conquer brawn in Disney's adaptation of the story of King Arthur. It was the first Disney film to feature the music of the Sherman brothers who went on to great success with other films such as Mary Poppins, Jungle Book, and The Aristocats to name a few. Presented here is an original hand-painted production cel setup of Merlin, Wart, and a mischievous frog from this animated musical comedy/adventure. The image Merlin appears at the 29:57 mark and Wart and the frog appear seconds later at the 30:58 mark. The character images together measure 7" x 5" on 16 field multi-cel setup which include an effects cel of bubbles. The setup is presented over a print background. It's a wonderful production piece from a magical musical number in this popular classic released nearly 60 years ago. It is in a 21" x 17" frame under glass with a mat opening of 13" x 10.5". Minor handling and condition is Very good.
