The Sword in the Stone Master Production Background with Added "The End" Cel (Walt Disney, 1963). "Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil is rightwise King born of England." This is inscribed on the sword that is stuck in the anvil. This film had backgrounds done by Walt Peregoy, Bill Lane, Al Dempster, Anthony Rizzo, Ralph Hulett, and Fil Montolla. It was released on Christmas day in 1963 as Walt Disney Studios' 18th animated feature film. This is the huge Master background of the Sword in the Stone, from the 2:21 mark where the legend of the Sword is told. The bottom border has notations for Seq/Scene 5. Bottom border is OK'd by "Ken." This is most likely Ken Anderson, who was Art Director on this film. This is one of the single largest hand-painted production backgrounds we have seen; it measures 25" x 19". Sword in anvil image is 5". A "The End" hand-inked, hand-painted title cel is over the background, added for presentation purposes; it actually comes from another film. This has to be one of the single most impressive pieces from this film we have seen. Minor handling and edge wear. In Very Good condition.
