Description

The Smurfs Gargamel's Castle Production Background Painting (Hanna-Barbera, c. 1980s). Here is a handsome original background painting of Gargamel's castle, an establishing shot that was created by an artist at the Hanna-Barbera Studio and photographed in production of an episode in the first or second season of The Smurfs animated television show. Hanna-Barbera's popular show was based on the comics work of Belgian cartoonist Peyo (pen name of Pierre Culliford); it ran continuously from 1981 to 1990, and several specials were made during the 1980s. The studio designation "0128-8515 BG-103" is handwritten along the bottom; this identifies the episode and this painting's place in it. The art is in opaque watercolor on 14.25" x 10.5" 3-peghole lightweight board, with an image size of 14.25" x 9.75". Fine condition with very minor handling wear.
