The Shooting of Dan McGoo "Red Hot" Lou Production Cel (MGM, 1945). "You know what? I'm happy!" Those are the words of this cartoon's deadpan star, Droopy, in the film's conclusion. Well, we're especially happy to offer an original hand-inked, hand-painted 12 field cel of the real star of this picture! Although here she's "the lady known as Lou," we know her best as Red Hot, that scintillating creation of animation legend Preston Blair, star of Red Hot Riding Hood, Swing Shift Cinderella, Uncle Tom's Cabana, and several other Tex Avery-directed cartoons. This is a superb full-figure image of Red, standing 8.25" with an eyes-closed, pouty pose, numbered 120 in the lower right. This can be seen at the 5:14 mark in online viewings; we've included a screen-print grab of this exact scene for comparison. There's a small amount of paint loss at the very top of her hairdo, plus a chip out to the right that we feel will be worth having professionally restored. Other than that, this attractive cel remains in Very Good condition. Add this treasure to your collection, and like Droopy, you'll be happy too! From the Gary Munson collection.
