The Secret of NIMH Great Owl Production Cel (Don Bluth/United Artists, 1982). The Great Owl guides Mrs. Brisby on her quest to help save her ailing son in the modern classic directed by Don Bluth. Voiced by legendary actor John Carradine, the Great Owl served as one of the mystical all-knowing creatures encountered by the brave little field mouse in the film that launched the Don Bluth brand. This lot is an original hand-painted production cel of the Great Owl in extreme close-up that nearly fills the 12 field cel. It's a striking image of the monstrous but wise old owl and is over a print background for presentation purposes. Don Bluth formed one of the few studios that could compete with Disney quality animated films and the detail and color pallet in this rare production cel certainly bears that out. The art is in a 16" x 12" frame under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 12" x 8". Condition is Very Good and the frame is sold as-is.
