Description
The Ren & Stimpy Show "Bellhops" Mrs. Buttloaves Master Background (Nickelodeon, 1995). "Höek!!" The hotel manager and concierge barks Ren's surname when he sees the tan lines on Mrs. Buttloaves' back which have been aptly illustrated in this original held background painting of the portly recurring character created for the season 5 episode 4 segment "Bellhops" of The Ren & Stimpy Show. This episode segment, which originally aired on 10/28/1995, was later banned by Nickelodeon for unknown reasons and also had a scene removed for its DVD release. With the ghastly sunburn exhibiting great detail emblematic of the series' held backgrounds, this frame can be spotted near the 6:20 mark as Mrs. Buttloaves crosses the lobby to return to her room after sunbathing at the pool. The hand-painted background has been rendered in gouache on trimmed board to an image area of 12.5" x 9.5" with Mrs. Buttloaves standing centered at an impressive 7.5" x 8.5"; the production codes RS-437 and BG-90 appear along the lower edge. A testament to the skill found within the series' animation department, created by background artists Raymond Zibach and/or Richard Daskas. With typical studio handling and wear including a faint horizontal crease across the lower half of the image, a roughly trimmed upper edge, and faint surface wear, overall this rare and detailed background painting is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
