The Raven Storyboard Book (Max Fleischer, 1942). For those of you who have not seen this obscure Fleischer two-reel cartoon, let us tell you that it's one of the oddest Fleischer shorts made -- and that's saying something! It starts out as a straight-forward adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's classic poem, but quickly turns into a farce about a door-to-door vacuum salesman (the Raven), and a Wolf; together, they pay a visit to a very thrifty Scottie Dog, where the Raven attempts to make a sale, while the Wolf goes about breaking into the dog's safe. Here is a set of hand-drawn storyboards from that cartoon, held together (out of sequence) into a makeshift 22-page 16" x 13" book, with multiple drawings on each page. Some are drawn directly on the page, while others have been cut and pasted in; may drawings are loosely sketched in. The overall condition is Fair with handling, glue stains, etc., but several pages are excellent, with more detailed drawings in graphite and color pencils. Go watch the cartoon (on YouTube), then come back and place a bid on this rare prize! From the Eric Sack Collection.
