The Point Production Cel with Key Master Background (Murakami-Wolf Productions, 1971). "You don't need to have a point to have a point." The Point is an animated adaptation of the story presented in musician Harry Nilsson's sixth studio album of the same title. It was the very first animated special ever to air in prime time on US television on 2/2/1971. The special saw multiple telecasts, and had four different narrators over its broadcast history. The first was a friend of Harry Nilsson, none other than actor Dustin Hoffman. The next two broadcasts featured Alan Barzman and Alan Thicke, and the final narrator for the home video release was Ringo Starr. The Point tells the story of Oblio, a round boy in a society of pointy people and his struggle to realize his purpose. This is a fantastic and rare piece from a generation-defining special, a hand-inked and hand-painted original production cel setup featuring Oblio and his dog Arrow in court, seen at the 21:53 mark of the special. The 12 field cels are presented on the Key Master background rendered in gouache on 14" x 10.5" background board. The piece overall shows minor handling and edge wear, and the cels are taped together. The condition is Very Good.
