The Plow Boy Horace Horsecollar Character Development Drawings Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1929). The eighth Mickey Mouse cartoon saw the introduction of a new character, Horace Horsecollar. This short was directed by Walt Disney with primary animation done by Ub Iwerks and Les Clark. It was released on 5/9/29. This is a series of three character development/story drawings of Horace Horsecollar, in graphite on trimmed animation paper. The first page of drawings show Horace, at the plow, with his hat on. We see him first pulling the plow at about the :25 second mark into the short, while Mickey is whistling. The second piece is when he stands up and touches his hat. We see this portion in the film around the :46 mark. The third set of drawings seem to be simple three-pose turnaround model sheet-type drawings with an aerial view, looking down. Extremely rare artwork for the birth of this character. Minor handling and edge wear. Extra holes added for binder use, a staple mark, and tiny stain marks, away from images. Good condition.
