The Old Mill Lilly Pad Frogs Background Painting (Walt Disney, 1937). In 2015, this Silly Symphony short was selected by the Library of Congress for film preservation in the National Film Registry. This film, directed by Wilfred Jackson and released on 11/5/37 (right before Snow White), was the first to use the Multi-Plane Camera and won the Academy Award for Best Short. It is considered a milestone in animation. This is a rare gouache painting of the frogs on the lily pads, on paper measuring 6" x 5". The paper has been glued to a 12 field 5-peghole animation sheet. We see the frogs on the lily pads around the 2:45 mark, before the big storm. Gustaf Tenggren was uncredited but provided Inspirational and Concept Art to this film; this may have come from his hand. Slight glue on border of paper. Pinholes in comers. Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.
