Description

The Night Watchman Kid Animation Drawings Sequence of 7 (Warner Brothers, 1939). The Night Watchman was the very first cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. In it, the feline watchman gets sick, so his son is enlisted to watch the kitchen. When a gang of rats finds out that an impressionable youngster is on duty, they take over the place. In this lot is a sequence of six rough animation drawings of the kitten and a celery stalk from a scene that didn't make it into final production. Along with the drawings is a timing chart of the action depicted. All are rendered in graphite on 12 field 2-peghole paper. These are very rare pieces from the Termite Terrace era of Warner studios and Chuck Jones directorial debut. The lot shows handling and toning. Condition is Very Good. From the Rev Chaney Archives.
