Description

The Nifty Nineties Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Animation Drawing Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1941). The Nifty Nineties is one of our personal favorite Mickey Mouse cartoons. Mickey's new look, developed by Fred Moore, was featured; Mr. Moore and fellow animator Ward Kimball were even caricaturized as song-and-dance men, "Two Clever Boys from Illinois." Cartoonist Walt Kelly was among the animators, years before he created his Pogo comic strip. Here's an original matched pair of 12 field production drawings from this Riley Thomson-directed short, including one of Mickey and Minnie in Mickey's runabout, and a second effects drawing of the car's exhaust clouds trailing them. The images are small but powerful; Mickey and Minnie are in graphite and red pencil, with an overall size of 2" x 2", while the puffs of smoke are in graphite and green pencil, measuring 1" x 1". They are marked 15 and C-15, respectively. Slight handling wear; Fine overall condition.
