The Little Mermaid Ursula Production Cel with Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1989). "King Triton's headstrong lovesick girl would make such a charming addition to my little garden" says Ursula the Sea Witch. This is an outstanding pan 2-cel setup of Ursula with her shrunken captives on a pan Key Master hand-painted production background. It is from the scene where Ursula is delighted to discover Ariel is in love with a human. This film was released on 11/17/89. It was the last Disney animated feature film to use hand-painted production cels. Rare production cels on their Key Master hand-painted production backgrounds were sold at a New York City auction called "The Art of the Little Mermaid" on Saturday, December 15, 1990, almost 30 years ago. Few of these Key Master setups resurface. This was lot 71 in this auction. Cel and background are 11.75" x 29.25". Great Ursula image of 9". The Key Master setup is in a frame of 35" x 18" with a mat opening of 27" x 11". It is rumored that her shrunken captives had some faces that were caricatures of Disney animation staff members. Disney Auction COA is on back of frame. Frame is sold as-is, artwork is Very Good condition.
