The Little Mermaid Sebastian Production Cel and Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1989). "With the cleaver I hack them in two. I pull out what's inside and I serve it up fried... 'cause I love little fishes, don't you?" sings Chef Louie as Sebastian watches in horror. The Art of the Little Mermaid Auction was held in New York on Saturday December 5, 1990. It celebrated the last Disney animated feature film to use hand-painted production cels. This sale was a collection of 283 cels, most being setups with Key Master hand-painted production backgrounds. This was lot 158 in that auction, a hand-painted production cel of a terrified Sebastian, with an image size of 5". The cel is on its hand-painted Key Master Production background. This is a stunning image of the bottle of wine, garlic jug, salt-shaker, and mixing bowl from Seq. 008 Scene 94, painted in gouache on a lightweight background board measuring 17" x 12". Key Master setups like this from The Little Mermaid rarely turn up for sale these days! Fine condition.
