Description

The Little House Preliminary Background (Walt Disney, 1952). Presented is a wonderfully rare original preliminary background created for The Little House, directed by the great Wilfred Jackson and based on the Caldecott Medal-winning book by Virginia Lee Burton. The rich and beautiful backgrounds of the film are credited to Ray Huffine (1905 - 1967) and Claude Coats (1913 - 1992). An excellent showcase of the whimsy, mood, and texture achieved by even the most minimal background image by the talented artists, this rare piece is rendered in gouache on 12 field 3-peghole background board. Protected by an acetate overlay, the background is numbered 2430 and Sc. 62 in the lower right corner. Minor handling and edge wear with pinholes in the upper corners, the condition is Very Good.
