The Little House Concept Painting by Mary Blair (Walt Disney, 1952). "Everything was bigger and better. This was the age of progress. And do tell I'm surrounded by progress!" says the Little House (spoken by Sterling Holloway). Here is an outstanding, oversized, Mary Blair original concept Color Key painting of the skyscrapers going up around the Little House. This short was inspired by the award-winning 1942 children's book by Virginia Lee Burton. The screenplay was developed by Bill Pete. It was directed by Wilfred Jackson and had animation done by Marc Davis, Les Clark, and Clair Weeks. A pretty impressive roster! This short retained Blair's concept art style, more than any other film. An almost identical image can be seen in the finished film around the 5:47 mark. The original gouache painting is on illustration board measuring 19.5" x 8.5". Beautiful, full palette of color! Tack holes in the corners and minor handling wear. Very Good condition.
