DescriptionThe Ghost Town Production Background Art Group of 2 (Terrytoons, 1944). In this Mannie Davis-directed cartoon, Gandy Goose and Sourpuss are weary prospectors, looking for anyplace they can find to bed down for the night, winding up in a haunted ghost town This wild Halloween-themed cartoon was released on 9/22/44. Here are three original hand-painted 13" x 9.5" production backgrounds from the short, painted by either Anderson Craig or Robert Blanchard. The first is noted as 6, and can be seen in online viewings at the 1:50 mark, as a row of skeletons sit watching a ghost bowl (using their skulls as bowling balls). Next one is noted as 31, and shows the backside of an upright piano, see it at the 4:44 mark as Sourpuss watches the ghosts. Finally we have background 34, which is seen at the 5:16 mark, as Gandy tries his luck on an old slot machine. All are painted with gouache and watercolor with airbrushed highlights on skimmed boards with Terrytoons stamps on back. Condition is Very Good with minor handling and edge wear.
