The Fox and the Hound Chief Animation Drawing Signed by Ollie Johnston (Walt Disney, 1981). This original 16 field rough animation drawing of Chief, Amos Slade's ornery hound, was created by Disney animator Ollie Johnston in development of a scene in this animated feature. The Fox and the Hound was the last film to which Ollie Johnston, one of Walt Disney's master animators known as his "Nine Old Men," contributed before his retirement from Walt Disney Productions in 1978. Mr. Johnston signed his drawing to the right of the image, and he wrote the number "9" at lower right to indicate this original's place in the scene. In this period, Mr. Johnston, Frank Thomas, Eric Larson, and other veteran Disney artists were instrumental in mentoring a new generation of animators that included Glen Keane, Randy Cartwright, John Musker, Chris Buck, and Darrell Van Citters. Art is in blue pencil; image size (including signature) is approximately 6" x 5.5". A Howard Lowery Certificate of Authenticity is included. In Fine condition with very minor handling wear.
