The Fox and the Hound Animation Production Maquette of Tod (Walt Disney, 1981). This original casting in hand-painted resin of Tod, one of the title characters in Disney's 1981 animated feature The Fox and the Hound, was produced from an original sculpture by Mel Shaw, who was one of the film's principal visual development artists. It was produced in the story development phase of production of the film and later employed by the artists animating the characters.
This particular maquette was distributed to character animator David Block who animated on The Fox and the Hound and other Disney features during his years at Walt Disney Feature Animation -- 1977-1985 and 1995-2001. Mr. Block also served as a producer/director and animation supervisor for Disney TV animation, Disney Direct to DVD, and Disney Special Projects. Included is a signed statement regarding this maquette and his work at Disney.
The maquette measures 7" x 10" x 3.75", with very minor handling wear. Fine condition.
