    Description

The Flintstones "Bachelor Daze" Production Cel Setups and Background Group of 3 (Hanna-Barbera, 1964). "Ask if he has a friend for me!" says Betty to Wilma in this throwback episode. "Bachelor Daze" was Episode 25 from Season 4. This lot includes two original production cel setups and one production background. In the episode, we see how Wilma and Fred, and Betty and Barney met. It takes place at the Honeyrock Hotel where the boys are bellhops and the girls are waitresses. A costume party at the hotel leads to havoc. Included here is a rare hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of Fred, Wilma, Betty, and Barney in their work outfits. This is when Fred asks Wilma to dance and then Barney does the same, in a 6-cel setup. You can see it at the 24:40 mark. Also included is a great cel of Wilma's mother, Mrs. Slaghoople, driving the girls away from Fred and Barney in disgust, only to get a flat. This is a 2-cel setup. It can be seen at the 26:27 mark. The third piece in this lot is the 12 field hand-painted production background of Betty's apartment, seen at 9:40. Background is marked BG 70. Historic lot of early Flintstones production art from an important episode. Images are 4" - 5". Minor handling wear, and staples to keep cels together. Very Good overall condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
